General Information
If you like trivia and game-style academic competition, you will like Scholastic Bowl! A match is made up of two teams of 5. Questions are in the categories of math, science, English, literature, music, sports, social studies, and popular culture.
Scholastic Bowl try-outs take place in January when we return from Christmas break. Try-outs consist of a written test and an “open play”. Open play is kind of like an “open gym”. Students actually play matches with questions and equipment. It is definitely the fun part of the tryout.
Scholastic Bowl- we call it Scho Bo- season begins in January and can last through April. League match days and practices are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. , Due to Covid 19, we do not have any information about tournaments at this time.
We have 2 SchoBo teams, an A team and a B team. The A team usually consists of the more experienced players (usually 8th grade and some 7th grade). The B team is made up of the less experienced players (6th and 7th graders). We play 2 matches on each game night, A and B. The home school decides the starting time and which team (A or B) plays the first match. A bus transports our team to away matches.
